Hi guys,joggers

And then there was the Marathon.
For those of you who weren’t aware, yesterday took place the London Marathon.

36,000 people ran it. 36,000 people who were up for the challenge.

Some do it every year, some did it for the first time and others, who are the athletes, do it constantly all over the world.

The name Marathon, for those who aren’t in the know, came to be known because of a bloke who ran from the town called Marathon to Athens in order to announce the Persians defeat. He ran the entire distance without stopping and upon arriving at his destination managed to exclaim that they have won and then collapsed and died.

runnersWhat a way to go! The bloke didn’t stop even once to catch his breath so that he can deliver the message of victory
for all to hear in Athens.

Nowadays, it doesn’t have to be that intense although there hbearave been occasions that marathon people have collapsed, fainted and some even died from exerting to much effort on themselves physically.
But I’m not here to talk about the tragedies of the Marathon, no, I want to talk about the unbelievable experience I came across when I went down to take some pics of those who were courageous enough to run the 26 mile Marathon.

Luckily, for those who run it it was a beautiful day here in London and already you could sense a cheery countenance all around the place.
People from all walks of life either came to participate in the run or came to support, encourage and egg on some of those who were lagging behind during  the course of the run.
cyclistYou had disabled runners in their tricycles, elderly people, over weight people, people in various costumes, people painted all over.  At one point it felt like as if the circus was in town but it felt like some if not all where there to raise some money for various charities and organizations.

I was quite surprised to see how many have actually made the effort of running in a full costume when some of these costumes seemed to weigh quite a bit.
How on earth were they going to complete the course was beyond me but it seemed that faith was on their side and perseveransantace had kept them on their journey to accomplish their mission - to complete those arduous 26 miles no matter what the consequences.

I guess if you have something to aim for and if you are held accountable for it then you must follow through with it no matter what the cost.

So it made me think -  isn’t that a great way of accomplishing what you want to achieve in life?

If we could all think the same way and do it the way the runners have whether we want to lose weight, get fit, succeed with our online business, whatever it may be, if we can get other people to hold us accountable green-manto our goals and once achieving them get those people to commit to giving us something in return for our efforts then that surely is a great way of focusing on what needs to be done. Wouldn’t you agree?

Seeing people from all walks of life participate in the Marathon while all eyes were on them, supporting them, encouraging them, cheering them on, was a great way to take some of the strain off of them even if for a little while. It just made it that more bearable I guess.

thorSo, there is no reason why we can’t do the same, whether it be physical or mental, the challenge is there for the taking. Lets have our Marathon and lets run the course no matter how long, how unwinding it may be, whdonkeyat
obstacles we may need to overcome, what type of weather we’d need to put up with. If we stay focused, determined and kept accountable for then the world can certainly be our lobster ;-)

No wonder Nike came up with the slogan - Just do it!

regards
