Hi guys,pimp-my-blog-copy

I’d like to talk about the word ‘Pimping’ since it’s a funny term to use on the internet. For those of you who don’t know ‘Pimp’ is slang for shameless self-promotion. You know the show ‘Pimp my ride’ on MTV. Well, if you’ve never seen it then ‘Pimp my ride’ is a TV show where each episode consists of taking one crappy looking car and transforming it into an ultra funky chariot of desire. It’s really about turning a students or down on their luck youngster driver into a player.

And nowadays we tend to see the same thing happen with blogs.

We all want to be players on the blogosphere field and reach a status where we can attract a traffic frenzy of eager readers with a post of an article or a launch of a product. And to get to that stage we are willing to do anything to pull in the punters and attract attention, including - pimping our blog!

We are all keen on earning a living in these desperate times. And like the saying goes, desperate times calls for desperate measures and sometimes you can smell the sense of desperation on some blogs, where their methods of blogging is pimping it to high heaven until it looks like a colourful benetton ad with the latest and greatest sales product flavours of the year.

Up close &…Personal

2009 January 26
by Guy

Hi guys,

Well, I’m finally doing it. Exposing myself to you out there in the flesh, up close & personal, and sharing with you my ambitions and desires for 2009.

But it’s not enough for me to want it. I want you to want it too!

After reading in the papers over the weekend that England is now officially in recession for the first time since 1991, its time to fight back.

Because it’s not all doom and gloom. If you can view the financial threat that you’re probably going through as a challenge that you face today, as difficult birth pangs of a new global order (as prime minister Gordy B. likes to call it) rather then being pessimistic and disheartened. And if you can pick yourself up, dust yourself off, set new rules, make the proper plans and make the necessary adjustments to overcome your problems with a sense of purpose then the world can definitely be your LOBSTER  ;-) che-guyvara-small7

Go forth and conquer.

Time to Twitter

2009 January 23
by Guy

Hi guys, twit1

For those of you who have spent the last few months under a rock and haven’t heard about Twitter well it’s time to crawl out. There seems to be a Twitter frenzy at the mo where anyone and everyone wants to be a part of it - Apparently even President Obama is twittering!

So for those of you who really don’t know, Twitter is an online service that asks you ‘What are you doing?

It is a social networking and microblogging service that allows you to send short text messages 140 characters in length, called “tweets”, to your friends, or followers.

Twitter has many uses for both personal and business use. It’s a great way to keep in touch with your friends and quickly broadcast information about where you are and what you’re up to.

It’s really a cross between blogging and instant messaging.

To some it may seem a baffling and pointless service but on the flip side it can prove to be a useful tool and an addictive one too. It’s funny, I’ve been using Twitter now for a little over a month and watched many use it as if it was crack ;-)

You can literally get hooked on it!

So  is it a useful addition to the web or just another site that wastes our time?
I’m sure that we all have our opinions but I predict that this thing will blow sky high in the next 6 months or so. I know that most of my friends out there in the real world haven’t heard of this tool yet but just like Facebook, this thing will spread like wild fire and sooner then later we will all be twittizens!

Collaborate or die with your blog

2009 January 22
by Guy

Hi guys,collaborate-or-die-copy2

I have recently come across a blog that belongs to a funny, enthusiastic and passionate guy by the name of Alejandro Reyes who’s drug of  choice is people and has set up his site Successfool.com as a hub for entrepreneurs with an internet business who want to start making money online.
He provides entrepreneurs with practical, relevant information that they can use in their own online marketing efforts.

The interesting thing about Alejandro is that his excitement, energy and passion about IM seems infectious to those that view his vids on a weekly basis. And a couple of weeks back he spoke about his outlook for 2009 and he titled it Collaborate or die. Intruiging title I know and what he believes will happen in 2009 is that internet bloggers, marketers, entrepreneurs etc will be collaborating more and sharing their information with the rest of us out there.

He went on to say that internet marketing in 2008 was a team sport and because of where the internet is going, with vlogging, podcasting and social media growing bigger by the day, he believes that 2009 will be one of the most significant years for collaboration.

You’re only as good as your next post

2009 January 20

Hi guys,

Mike medavoy a film producer and an executive extraordinaire who has been involved with over 300 feature films including One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Rocky, Annie Hall, Philadelphia and Sleepless in Seattle wrote a book a few years back titled ‘You’re only as good as your next one.’ I guess he meant to say your next film but in our case its our next post.

Writing post after post can be not only a daunting experience, to some of us, but also it’s a time consuming effort. Most of us only have enough hours in the day to spend on our blogs (Hey! We do have work and kids you know) and I’m certain that some of us, those that enjoy writing, spend way too much time and energy on writing posts when we should be concentrating on other things (including marketing, back linking and outsourcing).

So, why should we write posts on our blog anyway?

To pull in the punters of course! Yaro Starak explains it best in one of his posts where he talks about Pillar Posting. I won’t go into great detail here but it’s certainly worth the read. He goes on to say that updating your blog, via posts, as often as possible is a great way to bring in a constant stream of readers. But you have to make sure that the content has value because then your readers wont bother coming back to your blog.
