To Blog Or Not To Blog…
Haven't subscribed yet? What are you waiting for, you know you want to subscribe to my RSS feed.
…Now that is a good question.
Hi guys,
What the hell is a blog anyway?
according to Wikipedia a blog is a Web site (a weblog actually), usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. A blog really provides commentary or news on a particular subject. It is - your online journal to success.
For me its like having my own newspaper column where I can write whatever I damn please, as long as its in good taste of course, without being censored, barred or imprisoned for your thoughts - nice
But the whole point of having a blog is to attract an audience on a constant basis and to keep them coming back for more. Your blog will only attract an audience (traffic) if your content is good. Remember, good content is key here.
‘Sounds great so far, but how am I going to make any money from blogging?’ I hear you say.
Well the answer to that my compadres is in the list that you build over time. By a list I mean a mailing list of subscribers of course, who will keep coming to your blog over and over because they’re excited to read your news, views and abuse - watch it!
I’ll talk more about how to attract a list in later posts but for now all you need to know is that the more people you have subscribing to your list the more money you can generate via numerous channels including affiliate links and ads on your blog. Now that’s cool!
Some of you are probably thinking ‘Hey, so far so good, sounds interesting but I’m such a lousy writer I’ve never written anything in my life!’ Allow me to put a stop to that right now.
Stop it!
Stop thinking this way. I know that each and every one of you out there has the ability to write you just need to practice a little and exercise that muscle of yours called talent.
I have placed a free e-book on my free e-book page titled ‘write like a maniac!’ Yes, you heard me right, be a maniac writer for a change! An e-book which will show you how to unleash
the writer inside of you.
I want you to be excited about this opportunity and be ready for the challenges that await you around the blogs corner just like they are happening to me.
So be challenged and enjoy the ride, but truely enjoy it. Enjoy the process because we’re in this together for the long run so lets have some fun, alright compadres?
Right, enough jibber jabber for now so be on the look out for my next post where I’ll be talking about what the hell you should be writing about anyway and how to go about choosing your NICHE…
In the meantime, to get a head start look at my free blog info page and familiarize yourselves with the tutorials on how to get a blog going.

Hi Guy,
Thanks for letting me know about the link in my “about” page. Don’t really understand what’s happening there with that scarey Yahoo message. The link is fine when pasted into the browser. Anyway, thanks for the heads up.
As far as the sign up in my sidebar, what I did was add the text plugin from my wp dashboard (design - widgets). When you add the text widget, you just type in what you want it to say and format it how you want. Then create a link from your “button” to the page you want it to land on. I had to go back and review Alex’s videos to figure it out and I’m sorry, I’d still have to go back to tell you the steps. Then I created another list in Aweber attached to that “button” so I could differentiate where traffic is coming from.
I hoped that helped and I haven’t completely confused you. This is truly a case of the confused leading the confused here, but hey, it’s trial and error, right?!
Okay, I’m off to try and fix that link problem I have.

Hiya Guy!
Great job you’ve done with your blog! I like the conversational tone of your writing…makes it very enjoyable to read!
If you’ll let me know when your Write Like a Maniac book is ready, I’d love to add it to my page of Blog Offers. (Love that title, btw!)
Best wishes for your success!

Hi Guy,
Sorry I didn´t spend a lot of time explaining how I fitted the header graphic on my blog, yesterday was a bit crazy to say the least !
For about a week I couldn´t find a theme that would allow me to add my own header graphic. I purchased the theme I am using now from WP Remix. It is a fantastic theme that will allow me an infinite amount of flexibility, for example being able to change the colour scheme, adding shopping cart pages etc. It was if I remember around $70 for a single license.
I notice that you are using the copyblogger theme by Chris Pearson, I think if you go to this url :
http://www.pearsonified.com/2007/06/copyblogger_theme_for_wordpress.ph
You will find some of your answers. I have in the past used one of Chris´s other themes it´s called the Cutline theme. It´s a very simple theme to use with again the ability to change your header graphic.
I hope this was of some help to you ?
Regards,
Paull

Hi,
I like your skull at the top of your blog. An old old ex of mines’ dad had one like it - it was an ashtray - you put your cigarette in and the smoke would come through the eye sockets. Very cool.
Anyway, pop over to mine sometime,
Best wishes,
Ruth
