You’re only as good as your next post

Hi guys,
Mike medavoy a film producer and an executive extraordinaire who has been involved with over 300 feature films including One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Rocky, Annie Hall, Philadelphia and Sleepless in Seattle wrote a book a few years back titled ‘You’re only as good as your next one.’ I guess he meant to say your next film but in our case its our next post.
Writing post after post can be not only a daunting experience, to some of us, but also it’s a time consuming effort. Most of us only have enough hours in the day to spend on our blogs (Hey! We do have work and kids you know) and I’m certain that some of us, those that enjoy writing, spend way too much time and energy on writing posts when we should be concentrating on other things (including marketing, back linking and outsourcing).
So, why should we write posts on our blog anyway?
To pull in the punters of course! Yaro Starak explains it best in one of his posts where he talks about Pillar Posting. I won’t go into great detail here but it’s certainly worth the read. He goes on to say that updating your blog, via posts, as often as possible is a great way to bring in a constant stream of readers. But you have to make sure that the content has value because then your readers wont bother coming back to your blog.
Now, some of us have been blessed with the gift of writing good material, while others seem to struggle with it and stare at the computer screen, fingers a ready on the keyboard, with the hope that something will jump at us and materialize on our blog (Yes, i’ve experienced it myself too).
When you know that blogs thrive on posts how do you overcome post anxiety?
The answer is pretty straight forward, get someone else to write the posts for you. I’m sure you’ve all heard of Elance and Guru where you can find freelance writers who will write articles for you for the price of a cup of coffee and a muffin. I’ve even gone and put a search in google which gave me a list of potential sites where you can hire writers for the day for as little as $5 an hour and they can provide you with a dozen or so articles for your niche blog.
So the solution to writing posts is not that difficult, although it might pinch your pocket to begin with (so, don’t buy those cappuchinos on a daily basis
), it seems a great way to start attracting traffic to your blog.
Regards
Che Guy

Oh dear!
Perhaps I should put more thought into my blog posts. The problem is that because I’m still new at this journey, I don’t have anything particularly factual to share - yet. So in the meantime I’m working on building relationships, and then I’ll be able to move onto more informative posts.
It’s definitely a fair point that you raise though!
Nikki
Hi Nikki,
You’re doing great so far with your posts on your journeys progress plus the links you add onto your posts promoting others material is a great way of getting links back to you.
One thing I would suggest is that once a week you choose a topic of discussion to do with blogging (yaro starak calls it Pillar Posts). You don’t have to be a pro to know about it but you can do some research online and write your own views about the subject then raise some questions, get others opinions. Whether it be twitter (which is all the rage at the mo), facebook, Digg, any kind of social media network out there.
You certainly have the knack of writing good posts so keep up the good work girl!
Hey Guy
How you doing my friend? Really great post you put up there about outsourcing and getting others to write articles for you.
Like you said, sometime we don’t have enough hours in a day to get things done and it’s great there are people out there doing these jobs which we outsource to them to do on behalf of us.
I know I could do with it especially if I am to keep my target of launching 12 eBooks this year hence, I recently joined a PLR club which researchs everything for me, writes the outline into an ebook and I then spend a day or two rewriting it, and adding my examples and experiences to it.
Outsourcing is great barring blog post as I’m not sure about that due to I’ve yet to find my niche and speciality yet.
Anyway all the best and keep them post coming.
Nigel
PS: Btw I really like your blog layout Guy, it’s so simple, minimalistic yet so professional good looking. I’ve been researching a new theme for mine for weeks now and I’ve still yet to find one I like - lol
Hey Nigel,
12 E-books, so that’s one a month, piece of cake for you, I’m sure
I’m glad that you’re outsourcing your work. I used Elance in order to touch up my blog so I recommend it for anyone whose looking to do the same.
Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it.
regards
Guy
Hey Guy,
Great post. I so need to start outsourcing!. . let me know if you find a good writer
hope you’re well!
Derrick
Hey Guy,
Back from my break so thought I would pop over and see what’s going on.
Have had one of those ‘what to write’ moments since I got back but finally got a post up today! I also talk about outsourcing. I was reading The 4-hour work week by Tim Ferriss while I was away, have you read it?
It’s a fantastic book and when it comes to outsourcing this man takes it to a whole new level. If you don’t have it I highly recommend you check it out.
All the best
Mark
Hi Derrick,
I have only outsourced for a blog polish but not for and article writer yet.
I would suggest that you go onto one of the website I mentioned in my post and get references or examples from freelancers who write articles. If I do come across any writers in the future I’ll let ya know
Hi Mark,
I trust you had a good holiday and now are fully charged up and ready to get down to blogging
Thanks for the recommendation regarding the book ‘the 4 hour work week’ there is quite a few of you guys out there who have read it so far and I guess I should be next.
regards
Guy
